Its Awards season...
Back to BlogsI would like to draw your attention to two important awards. The first being the 2010 NSW Volunteer of the Year Award. This award is a fantastic way to recognise the people in our community who volunteer valuable hours to make a difference. I would like to encourage everyone to nominate an individual or a group. This is a great way to say thank you for their hard work, commitment and contribution to our community.
There are three major categories in the awards
2010 NSW Volunteer of the Year Award with special awards for Youth and Senior Volunteers of the Year
2010 NSW Volunteer Team of the Year Award
2010 NSW Employee (Corporate) Volunteer of the Year Award
The awards are run at a state and regional level, with regional winners announced in ceremonies in the award’s 19 regions from mid-October to mid-November.
Regional winners will be then be entered for the title of 2010 NSW Volunteer of the Year to be presented at Parliament House on Friday, 3 December, in the lead-up to International Volunteer Day. The NSW Volunteer of the Year Award is an initiative of The Centre for Volunteering, a peak body for volunteering in NSW and is this year proudly supported by Westpac. Nominations for the awards close on Thursday, September 30th
The second award I would like to make you aware of is Australia’s Favourite Event. Australia’s Favourite Event nominations are part of the Australian Event Awards to be held at Sydney Olympic Park on 7 October 2010. There are hundreds of great events and festivals held around NSW each year, and each of these events plays an important role in attracting visitors and boosting local economies. Importantly voting closes at midnight (AEST) on 12 September 2010 and the winner will be announced at the Awards on 7 October.
So take a few minutes to look at these two important Awards. I am sure you will agree that it is important to recognise our volunteers and also the great local events we hold every year.
